World Mental Health Day 2011
Nairobi 10th October - For the first time in the history of Kenya, World Mental Health Day was observed on 10th October as the rest of the world. Kenya has been observing this day on the last Friday of the month as 10th was falling on a national day that has since been removed.
The event was commemorated at the national teaching and referral mental hospital, Mathari Mental Hospital, and was presided over by the Minister for Medical Services, Hon. Peter Anyang Nyong'o. The function started with a brief meeting in the office of the Hospital Medical Superintended that was then followed by a tour in the hospital. The theme for this year's celebration is: "Investing in Mental Health"
